Martial Path
Martial Path is a system only MSO Classic has. Your character has four paths, and each one is levelled and built separately, so you can try a different weapon or stat build without making a new character.
Checklist
- Click Switch Path in the Status window (C).
- Each path has its own level, stats and gear.
- Your lower paths get extra EXP from monsters.
How paths work
A character has four paths, Slot 1 to Slot 4. Each path has its own level and EXP, its own STR, AGI, CON and INT, its own unspent stat points and its own equipped gear. Everything else is shared.
Separate for each path | Shared by all four |
|---|---|
Level and EXP | Skills, skill levels and skill points |
STR, AGI, CON and INT | Inventory and gold |
Unspent stat points | Quests |
Equipped gear | Guild, name and friends |
A new path starts at level 1 with 12 in every stat and nothing equipped. Paths don’t have classes, so any path can use any weapon and any build. Gear level requirements are checked against the level of the path you’re on.
Opening the Martial Path window
Open the Status window with C and click Switch Path. The window has a tab for each slot, numbered 1 to 4. Each tab shows the path’s level, EXP, stats, available points and bonus EXP rate. The line at the bottom shows your active path.
Switching paths
Select a tab and click Switch to Slot. You can do this anywhere except inside a dungeon run, but only when:
you’ve been out of combat for 30 seconds (the window shows how long is left),
you’re alive and not sitting,
you’re not trading, running a stall, riding a Titan or talking to an NPC.
Skill cooldowns carry over. HP, MP and AP keep their current values and are capped at the new path’s maximum, so switching won’t heal you.
Each path keeps the gear it has equipped, and gear on your other paths doesn’t use bag space. To move an item to another path, unequip it, switch, and equip it again.
Bonus EXP
Your paths are ranked by level. The highest path gets normal EXP. A path one step down the ranking gets 1.5x, the next 2x and the last 3x, but only if there’s a big enough gap: a path moves up a step when the path ranked just above it is at least 3 levels higher, or is at the level cap of 100. Paths within 2 levels of each other get the same rate.
Path levels | Bonus EXP rates |
|---|---|
60 / 57 / 54 / 51 | 1x / 1.5x / 2x / 3x |
43 / 40 / 40 / 40 | 1x / 1.5x / 1.5x / 1.5x |
43 / 42 / 41 / 40 | 1x / 1x / 1x / 1x |
80 / 40 / 39 / 38 | 1x / 1.5x / 1.5x / 1.5x |
The bonus applies to EXP from killing monsters, including your share of party EXP and dungeon boss EXP. Quest EXP, EXP from items and skill points don’t get the bonus.
Resetting a path’s stats
A stat reset scroll resets only the path you’re on. That path’s STR, AGI, CON and INT go back to 12 and you get all of its stat points back to spend again.
There are three scrolls, one for each level range: StatusP. Initialising Scroll (Lv1~50), (Lv51~70) and (Lv71<). Use the one that matches the highest level the path has reached. Spend any points left over from an earlier reset first, or the scroll won’t work.
